LokSabha 2019: BJP silent on Thackeray’s allegations

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said it did want to give any explanation about Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray’s allegation that the claim of the first digital village named Harisal (Amravati) was fake.

This was stated on Tuesday by BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari at a press conference.

Bhandari said, “We don’t want to give explanation to Thackeray’s allegation. Now, people are enjoying his speeches. However, Thackeray’s speeches did not help to get their party candidate elected.”

On the the issue of MP Smriti Irani’s education, Bhandari said, “She has admitted a mistake which she did in affidavit for last Lok Sabha. Earlier, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi did the same regarding education. However, Irani did not make an issue of their education details.”

Giving details about BJP’s manifesto, Bhandari said, “We have fulfilled 73 per cent of the promises from our manifesto and we have details to prove the same.”

Meanwhile, Pradeep Rawat, BJP leader and former MP of Pune condemned violence by Naxalites in his press conference on Tuesday. In reply to a question, he said, if the police find Sanatan Sanstha’s involvement in the murder, the government has right to ban the organisation. The BJP government has controlled the urban Naxalite movement. It is anti-national and a threat to the internal security.
