PIMPRI: Parth Pawar of the NCP-Congress-PWP front and Shrirang Barne of the Shiv Sena-BJP-RPI (A) alliance filed their nominations for the Maval Lok Sabha seat here on Tuesday.

Both the candidates had organised rallies prior to the filing of their nominations at the office of the returning officer at the Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) i.e., Pradhikaran office in Nigdi.

Those who accompanied Parth included his father and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) MLA Jayant Patil and Pimpri Chinchwad NCP President Sanjog Waghere.

Barne was accompanied by Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, District Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, Minister of State Vijay Shivtare, MP Amar Sabale, Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe and BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap.

As Parth submitted his papers and walked out of the election office, Barne arrived there. Both the rival candidates greeted each other smilingly as their assembled supporters held their breath.

The election in the constituency will be held on April 29.
