LokSabha 2019: Pune, Baramati vote today in LS elections

PUNE: Voters are ready to choose their representative for Pune and Baramati Lok Sabha seats on Tuesday.  Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm. 

Voters should carry identity proof. Since all voters do not have Voter ID Cards, the Election Commission has allowed other documents for the purpose of verification. A citizen can vote by producing any one of the 11 photo identity proofs (see box). 

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena led coalition Girish Bapat, Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-led Grand Alliance candidate Mohan Joshi and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) candidate Anil Jadhav are in fray for Pune Lok Sabha seat. 

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule and BJP candidate Kanchan Kul are competing in Baramati constituency. 

Campaigning concluded for both seats on Sunday. After that, candidates stopped their campaign in public. However, candidates met personally prominent community leaders and conducted indoor meetings in their party offices. Inside the polling booth, mobile phones are not allowed.

ACCEPTABLE DOCUMENTS
- Election card
- Passport 
- Driving licence 
- Service identity card of State or Central Government
- PAN card 
- Aadhaar card 
- Passbook issued by a bank or Post Office 
- MGNREGA job card 
- Health insurance card issued by Ministry of Labour
- Pension documents with photograph 
- Authenticated photo voter slip issued by the election machinery.

70 PC VOTER SLIPS DISTRIBUTED
District Collector Ram Kishor Ram said, “Administration has distributed 70 per cent voters list till date. People can search their name through Election Commission of India (ECI) application. Administration has also make arrangements of help desk in every polling station to help voters.”
