Man arrested with 59 kg red sandalwood

Pune: Sleuths from the Crime Branch Unit 1 of Pune police have nabbed a man and seized 59 kg red sandalwood worth Rs 3.6 lakh from his possession in Kothrud on Saturday. 

The accused has been identified as Rahul Haridas Ingale (30), a resident of Bhugaon. On Saturday, a team led by PSI Dinesh Kadam was patrolling in Kothrud when policeman Irfan Momin received information about a red car with sandalwood near Vanaz corner. 

Accordingly, the police team nabbed Ingale, who had come to sell the sandalwood. “We have seized 59 kg sandalwood worth Rs 3.6 lakh and his car worth Rs two lakh. During interrogation, the accused told us that he has got sandalwood from his acquaintance from Hyderabad,” said Police Inspector Nitin Bhosale Patil.
