Man held with 750 gm ganja

PUNE: A 23-year-old youth has been arrested by Vimantal police station for allegedly selling cannabis (ganja) to college students in Viman Nagar. Acting on a tip-off received by Constable Harun Pathan, a trap was laid and Umakant Mishra, a native of Uttar Pradesh, who lived in Chandan Nagar, was arrested when he came to sell the narcotic substance near Symbiosis College on Monday. The police claimed to have recovered 750 gm ganja from his possession. 

Later his house was raided from where Rs 4.04 lakh in cash was recovered, while his bank account has Rs 7.5 lakh balance, the police said. The accused was produced before a magistrate court which has remanded him in police custody till August 18. Assistant Police Inspector Pratap Kolte is  investigating the case. 

Senior PI Sanjay Naik-Patil and Police Inspector (Crime) Vilas Sonde supervised the investigation team.
