Man held for raping minor stepdaughter

PUNE: A 29-year-old man has been arrested by Sangvi police for allegedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter repeatedly since November 2017. The girl confided in her teacher, who has lodged the police complaint.

Police officials said that the minor girl has been staying with the accused since 2015. The accused runs a snacks stall at an IT company and also works part-time as a dance teacher.

According to police, the incident took place between November 2017 and August 10 this year. The accused threatened to kill the victim and her mother and then raped her. The FIR was registered on Tuesday.

Assistant Police Inspector Alka Sarag, who is investigating the case, said, “The accused was produced before a special court, which remanded him to five days police custody. We have charged him for rape and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code, besides relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). Further investigations are going on.”
