Marijuana farm busted in Junnar

Pune: A joint team of Pune rural police local crime branch and Junnar police station raided farms on the border of Junnar and Ambegaon talukas and seized 700 kg of marijuana crop, which is estimated to be worth Rs 40 lakh.

Three farmers have been booked by police for cultivating the narcotic substance on their one acre land, secretly in the farms of millet (jawar, bajra) and corn. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by API Nilkanth Jagtap of LCB and Police Inspector Kailash Ghodke of Junnar police station raided the fields. The marijuana crops were yet to ripe. The police have nabbed Namdev Ghankute, Kailash Ghankute and Laxman Ghankute who own own the farms. The process of registering an FIR against them was on until late Saturday.
