Mega block on Pune-Daund rail route in March

Pune: The Central Railway (CR) will operate a mega block on the Pune-Daund route in March which will affect several train services operating on the route. The block will be operated for three hours every day between noon to 3 pm, officials of Pune Division said.

As per officials, among those affected are DEMU service between Pune-Daund, passenger services as well as long distance express and mail services.

The Pune-Daund DEMU (71407) which departs from Pune railway station at 10.30 am and reaches Daund at 12.35 pm will stand cancelled throughout the month. Similarly, Daund-Pune DEMU (71408) which departs from Daund at 12.43 pm and reaches Pune at 2.13 pm every day, will remain cancelled for the same duration.

Officials said that Baramati-Pune passenger train (51452), as well as Pune-Nizamabad passenger train (51421), will remain cancelled between Pune-Daund section meaning that the former will only ply till Daund, while the latter will depart from Daund instead of Pune railway station.

Also, Amravati-Pune Express which arrives at Pune at 1.15 pm on Tuesday, will halt at Daund station for 50 minutes. This train will also halt at Daund for 1 hour and 50 minutes on Sundays before continuing the journey to Pune.

Hyderabad-Pune Express (17014) which is scheduled to reach Pune station at 1.15 pm will halt at Daund station for 1 hour and 50 minutes on Monday and Wednesday) before leaving for Pune station. On Saturdays, the train will halt for 1 hour and 15 minutes at Daund before departing for Pune station.

“The block is being effected for maintenance of various aspects on the up route which is very important from the safety perspective. Among the work which will be carried out are track maintenance, change of weakened parts, overhead equipment maintenance, signal telecommunication equipment and cable maintenance. Personnel from the signal department, engineering and electrical department will carry out the work,” said Manoj Jhanvar, PRO, Pune Division.

Change in timetable
- The Pune division has proposed to change the timings of 51410 Kolhapur-Pune passenger and 51435 Pune-Satara passenger to meet the demands of daily commuters of Satara-Pune section on a trial basis for a period of one month with effect from March 1 to 31. 
- In the down direction, the departure of 51435 Pune-Satara passenger will be changed to 7.10 pm instead of 5.05 pm. In up direction, the train no 51410 Kolhapur-Pune passenger arriving at Pune at 4.25 pm has been speeded up by 1 hr 45 minutes and will arrive in Pune at 2.40 pm.
