Pune: A five-bed mini-hospital has been set up on the premises of Vishrambaug-Faraskhana police stations, behind Dagdusheth temple, to attend to pilgrims and police officials for the 12 days of Ganesh festival.

This is the sixth year that Niranjan Sevabhavi Sanstha has set up a mini-hospital, serving free of cost. Pune Police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla on Thursday inaugurated the mini-hospital which will function till the Ganesh immersion day.

“A large number of police personnel are deployed for bandobast duty during the festival. Most of them suffer from fatigue due to working for long hours, causing health hazards. Our hospital is to primarily help these officials,” said Jayesh Kasat, founder president of Niranjan Sevabhavi Sanstha.

“Then there are thousands of devotees in the area. Due to the crowd, it is difficult for ambulances to reach there. Therefore, we have deployed a 20-member medical staff at the hospital to treat people,” Kasat said.
Officials said many people complain of fever, cough, low sugar levels, blood pressure problems, fatigue, acidity and other ailments, at the mini-hospital. There is separate arrangement for women.
