More PMPML buses in the afternoon on holidays

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has decided to increase the number of buses after 1 pm on Sundays, Saturdays and other public holidays to cater to commuters not working on these days.

A major chunk of PMPML commuters, i.e, the State government employees will now have a holiday on Saturdays as well after the State government announced five-days working in its offices.

At present, PMPML is operating 1,400 buses from 5 am to 1 pm and 1,300 buses from 1 pm to 10 pm on all days including Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Accordingly, the administration has decided to change the traffic plan and increase the number of buses in the afternoon, especially on long routes.

“The decision has been taken due to the number of passengers being less on public holidays, Saturday and Sunday in the morning. During holidays, the commuters used to travel after 2 pm,” said the senior officer of PMPML.
