Pune: An inter-house street-play competition was recently conducted by PVG’s Muktangan English School and Jr College Pune, among its four houses, including Tilak, Bose, Vivekanand and Tagore.

Sangeeta Bhide, ex-teacher of Muktangan and currently working as an in-charge of Maharashtriya Mandal’s Junior College of Commerce and Devika Bhide, Masters in Physiotherapy, were invited as the judges.

Topics like 'Organ donation', 'Rivers speak', 'Advertisements - pros and cons', and, 'Humanity is lost in today’s world' had to be enacted through street plays.

The four simple, but effective, street plays spoke eloquently about various social evils. Bose house stood first and Tilak house bagged the second prize. Vivekanand and Tagore houses scored the third and fourth place respectively.

Bhide, in her address, congratulated the four houses and said, “The performers were uninhibited and in their full glory.” Bhide expressed the hope that the audience will carry the message of these street plays in the society.

Nutan Bapat, Principal, Hemangini Inamdar, Vice Principal, Nutan Neurgaonkar, Coordinator, Sayali Dhakras and Avril Pareira, Supervisors, along with students of Std V to IX witnessed the competition.
