Nashik soldier martyred in J&K after ceasefire violation

Pune: A 29-year-old soldier from Nashik district was martyred in Jammu & Kashmir at 2.45 pm on Sunday, when the Pakistan Army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation in Naoshera Sector on the Line of Control (LoC). 

The martyr, Naik Keshav Somgir Gosavi, was critically injured due to the firing and succumbed to gunshot wound injuries. 

He belonged to village Sri Rampur in Sinnar taluka of Nashik district. The soldier is survived by his eight-month pregnant wife Yashoda, father and sister.

The soldier’s mortal remains reached Ojhar airport near Nashik, in a special IAF aircraft on Monday evening. They were was received by Nashik district Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan, Air Commodore S Borade, MP Hemant Godse, MLA Dr Rahul Aher and other officials. Mahajan said the State government will pay ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to his family.  The mortal remains were taken to his native place +for the last rites.
