National conference to encourage women in sports takes off on Oct 30

Pune: Maharashtra Mandal’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have organised a ‘National Conference of Honouring, Organising, and Recognising Women in Sports’ on October 30 and 31. 

The conference will focus on issues related to women’s participation in sports and their solutions. It will be inaugurated by Dr Meeran Chaddha Borwankar (IPS) at the Maharashtra Mandal Hall in Gultekdi. Pune Mayor Mukta Tilak, Maharashtra Mandal President Dhananjay Damle will be present on the occasion.

Gauri Gadgil, Special Olympic Medalist, Kartiki Patel, Wheelchair Basketball Captain, Dinesh Gund, Founder, Jog Maharaj Vyayamshala (JMV), Dipika Choudhary, Professional Bodybuilder, Vahbiz Bharucha, Rugby player, and many more will be a part of this conference. The speeches and panel discussions at the conference will address issues like strategies for women’s participation in sports, solutions for gender equality in sports, clearing obstacles women players face and special women in sports.

Students, principals and researchers from across the country will participate in this two-day conference. The conference will let aspiring women players meet the veterans in the field and learn from their experience.
