ST CORRESPONDENT

PIMPRI: Workers of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena got into a scuffle in Pimpri-Chinchwad on polling day on Monday. Former deputy mayor Dabbu Aswani and three members of Shiv Sena suffered injuries in the fight.

Aswani claimed that the fight was started deliberately to disrupt the voting rate in Pimpri. However, Shiv Sena candidate of Pimpri Constituency Gautam Chabukswar said the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) realised its defeat, hence they accused Shiv Sena of creating a ruckus.

The process of registering the FIR was on till late on Monday night at Pimpri police station.

According to sources, a few Shiv Sena workers were roaming around in the area of Aswani’s office in the morning.

After a while, they attacked Aswani which snowballed into a fight between Aswani, his brother, NCP and Shiv Sena party workers. This resulted in injuries to Aswani and three Shiv Sena workers. Two of the workers were seriously injured.
