NDA expo inaugurated; open for all today

Pune: The National Defence Academy (NDA) Expo, a bi-annual event, conducted during the week preceding the Passing out Parade (PoP), was inaugurated on Sunday. The event represents the culmination of various club activities.

Expo Spring Term - 2018 was inaugurated by Mini Vipin, President, Family Welfare Organisation, in the presence of Commandant Air Marshal IP Vipin. The Expo will be kept open for visitors on May 28 and 29. As the name suggests, the event is an ‘exposition’ of the creative talents of NDA cadets.

The NDA has clubs for Archery, Astro-Navigation, Static and Flying Aero-modelling, 10 Metre Weapon Shooting, Automotive, Arts, Photography, Dramatics, Western & Classical Music, Dance, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, Skeet Shooting, Golf, Life-saving skill, Cycling and several Waterman ship club activities like Sailing, Kayaking and Rowing.

The cadets of NDA bagged laurels in Silhouettes 2018, an inter-college cultural festival organised at the AFMC from February 22 to 24 this year. The cadets received first place in dramatics. The team with Cdt Ojas Tohra and Cdt Prakhar were adjudged the winners for the English debate competition. Cdt Tohra also received the ‘Best Individual Speaker’ award. He also won the second place in the ‘Turn Coat’ competition out of a total of 28 participants. Cdt Mohammed JS secured the third position in English essay writing competition. Two cadets participated in the slam poetry competition. 

Cdt Satyam Mishra qualified for the finals and secured the fourth position from 36 participants. Four cadets of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Club participated in DRDO Robotics & Unmanned Systems Exposition (DRUSE) competition at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, and won several prizes. These cadets qualified for the first round of the competition and participated in the second round.
