NFAI Calendar 2020 lanched at IFFI, Goa

Pune: The calendar for the year 2020 by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) was launched at International Film Festival, India (IFFI) in Goa by Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare.

The NFAI Calendar 2020 focuses on the musical instruments in Indian cinema and features some rare images from the collection of the archive. The calendar brings 24 images presenting musical extravaganza with a compilation of actors playing musical instruments in cinemas of various languages in India.

NFAI’s Multimedia Exhibition on 50 years of IFFI that traces the journey of IFFI from 1952 to its present Golden Jubilee edition and its contribution to the Indian Cinema was also inaugurated.

The interactive digital exhibition has various hi-tech exhibits featuring sections like origin and growth of Indian cinema, the evolution of IFFI over the years, a special section to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and so on.

Khare appreciated the entire concept and execution of the exhibition, calling it extremely informative and tech-savvy with the use of digital media.

The NFAI Calendar 2020 features rare images of Raj Kapoor playing tamboora (Valmiki, 1946), Jayashree Gadkar playing veena (Seeta Maiya, 1964), Vishnupant Pagnis playing ektara (Narsi Bhagat, 1940), PL Deshpande playing tenor banjo (Gulacha Ganapati, 1953), Sivaji Ganesan playing nadaswaram (Thillana Mohanambal, 1968), Neralattu Rama Poduval playing Idakka (Thampu, 1978), Raj Kumar playing shehnai (Sanadhi Appanna, 1977), Kalpana playing violin (Gejje Pooje, 1970), Kishore Kumar playing harmonium (Shabash Daddy, 1978) etc. 

The added attraction is a QR code on the calendar that can be scanned to get detailed information about the featured image and the concerned film. This year, the calendar is available in two formats, Wall and Table and can be purchased by booking online at www.nfai.gov.in
