Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has noted that there will not be any cold wave situation in Maharashtra from January 12, as the temperature is steadily rising. In the coming week, IMD has forecast that minimum temperatures during the night are likely to rise by two to three degrees Celsius over northwest and central India.
On Friday, Pune reported minimum temperature of 9.7 degrees Celsius while the lowest minimum temperature in the State was reported in Nagpur at 8.2 degrees Celsius.
Speaking to Sakal Times, Head of Climate Research Division, IMD Pune, AK Srivastava, said that as there is a steady increase in temperature, the weather department has not given any cold wave warning for the State.
“There was a cold wave situation in Vidarbha till Friday. After this, there is an expected rise in temperature in the State,” added Srivastava.
IMD has forecast that till January 15, the weather in the State will remain dry.
IMD has forecast that in Pune, day and night temperatures will rise gradually till January 17 and the sky will remain clear.
Across the plains in India, the lowest minimum temperature on Friday was recorded at three degrees Celsius at Khajuraho in east Madhya Pradesh.
On Friday, dense to very dense fog was observed at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh while moderate fog observed at isolated places over Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and south coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The IMD has forecast that till January 13, dense fog will be seen at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and north Rajasthan.
