Now, women to get self-defence training

Pune: Under the Svayamsidha Yojana, women from varied backgrounds will receive self-defence training. The State government has approved Rs 15 lakh to carry forward this programme. From housemakers to working women, from students to retired women, all of them will receive this training.

Svayamsidha Yojana started in the year 2001. This scheme not only covers self-defence training but also includes confidence building training, gender sensitisation and accounts keeping training. 

In the current financial year, the government has made provision for Rs 21 lakh in the Budget. School Education an

d Sports Department’s Deputy Secretary Rajendra Pawar said that Rs 14.7 lakh has already been distributed for the purpose.
