Old notes of Rs1 crore seized

Pune: Officials of the Shirur police, which is under the jurisdiction of Pune rural police, arrested three persons for allegedly possessing old currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination worth Rs 1 crore 26 thousand on June 8 in Shirur. 

As per information shared by Police Inspector Narayan Sangarkar of Shirur police station, the accused claimed that the cash belongs to a real estate developer in Pirangut. The inspector said that Income Tax officials have been informed about the case.

Sangarkar said the trio were carrying the cash in a car.

Officials of Pune police and income tax department are investigating the case.
