Online tax payment on the rise in PCMC areas

PIMPRI: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) online property tax filing facility, which started seven years ago, is now gaining momentum. 

There is an increase in the number of taxpayers who prefer online payment mode. 

The municipal corporation has 15 tax collection offices to facilitate tax payments by citizens. Apart from this, the corporation has provided the facility to pay ‘online’ tax since 2009-10. 

Thereafter, the number of online taxpayers is doubling every year. Officials of the tax collection department of PCMC said, “Till date, the corporation has received property tax of Rs 391.11 crore. 

The civic body has provided an option of various payment gateways for the payment of property tax. In next two years, it is expected to cross halfway mark of the total payments of property tax.”

THE NUMBERS
- Rs 391.11 crore: Total property tax collected by PCMC
- Rs 138.11 crore: Property Tax collected by PCMC through online mode. 
- 1.20 Lakh: Number of citizens who paid their taxes online. (35.33 per cent of total taxpayers).
