Pimpri: Former leader of the Opposition in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Datta Sane has criticised Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar for hosting a meal for BJP State President and District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil and others in the municipal corporation premises on Friday.

In a statement issued here, Sane said that a meal for the visiting District Guardian Minister, Members of Parliament (MPs), MLAs and other office-bearers was hosted at the municipal corporation headquarters on August 30, prior to the minister’s meeting on civic issues at the civic body premises.

Sane said that nothing is wrong if the meal was hosted at a private hotel or the BJP party’s office. 

“The move of the Municipal Commissioner to throw open the civic body premises for hosting the meal was improper and lowered the image of the civic boy in the minds of the people,” the statement said.

Sane alleged that Hardikar’s behaviour towards Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders has led to allegations that he was behaving like the BJP’s spokesperson.
