Osmanabad's Girish Bodole tops UPSC in State

Pune: Osmanabad boy Girish Badole topped the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)in the State while ranked 20th in all India Ranking (AIR). UPSC declared the results of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and central services group A and B on Friday.

Badole, son of a farmer completed his MBBS from JJ Hospital, Mumbai from 2007-13, and came to Pune to prepare for UPSC exam. “I was in Sainik School in Turzapur, Osmanabad. During the school days only I had developed a liking for civil services as most of the events and activities in the school were initiated on patriotism and aimed at helping the nation serve better,” said Badole.

“Even while pursuing medical there were several incidents that provoked my intentions of wanting to do something for the country and the poor people. It was then I understood that being an IAS officer would help fulfill my dreams,” he said.

Badole used to work as a part-time employee at Oil and Natural Gas Company Ltd (ONGC) to support his studies while he was preparing for UPSC exam. “As my financial condition were weak, I had to work to support my studies,” added Badole.

Other candidates from Maharashtra are Piyush Salunke, Rohan Joshi (67), Mayur Katwate (96) Suresh Chavan (56), Bhuvanesh Patil (59), Rahul Shinde (95).

Around 990 appointments have been made out of 1,058 total vacancies available, according to government data. There are 180 posts in IAS, 42 in IFS, 150 in IPS, central services group A in 565, group B services in 121. Results will be available on UPSC website http//www.upsc.gov.in and marks will be available on the website within 15 days from the date of declaration of result.
