Outstanding women in agri sector felicitated

PUNE: Mayabai Kamlakar, a farm labourer from Latur working for 40 years, found recognition for her work when she was awarded the Green Lady Award. Another farm woman, Suvarna Khilegaon from Sangli, was given ‘Farming Innovation Award’ for adopting rain-water harvesting.

The two were among the six women who were felicitated to observe International Women’s Day (March 8) by Agrima Exim Pvt Ltd.

Agrima Exim Pvt Ltd is a tech-based agriculture product export company. They awarded women been doing outstanding work in the field of agriculture. The awards were given by social activist Rajshree Tapkir on Wednesday in the city.

Pooja Bhandari, a tractor driver was awarded Agriculture Movement Samriddhi Award while Vanita Rathwadkar was honoured with Excellent Agriculture Management Award. Sonabai Shinde from Latur was honoured for outstanding work in the packaging agriculture.

Also, 20 women labourers from agriculture field were felicitated and presented with Paithani sarees.

“Our company is focused on agriculture and welfare of farmers and with this award, we want to motivate the female farmers and also to increase the women’s participation in the field,” said Kuldeep Jadhav, CEO, Agrima Exim Pvt Ltd.
