Over 80,000 students apply for FYJC in city

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Over 80,000 candidates have submitted their application forms for the online Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for First Year Junior College (FYJC), i.e. class XI in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad this year.

The last date was extended to July 4 to accommodate the new reservation for the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC).

Deputy Director of Education Minakshi Raut had earlier stated that usually the number of applicants crosses 1 lakh, but this year candidates are lesser in number. As Sakal Times had reported earlier, this could be attributed to the low-scoring results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination this year.

As per the data, 80,445 students have successfully completed their forms with approval for the 1,04,139 vacancies. Of the 84,824 candidates who filled part 1 of the forms, 4,379 failed to get them approved, so they could not be a part of the first round of admissions.

The students would now wait for the first merit list for regular rounds of admissions that is scheduled to be released on July 12. Prior to that, a general list of students will be released on Friday for  students to point out mistakes and objections in their personal details, if any, from July 6 to 8 at the help centres or their respective schools. The first regular round of admissions will be held from July 13 to 15.
