Paknikar’s calendar to be unveiled

Amala Reddie

Pune: Noted photographer Sateesh Paknikar, known for his portrayal of musicians and singers, announced the theme of his annual calendar ‘Swarasadhak 2019’, which centres around the dedication put in by an artiste.

It will feature photographs of contemporary artistes and will be unveiled at Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav on December 12.

According to Paknikar, since its inception in 2002, the annual calendar with its unique themes has been a huge hit among all music and photography lovers.

He revealed that the special feature of this year’s edition is the thought expressed by each artiste on ‘Me and My Music’.

“I have been fortunate to capture the bhavamudras (expressions) and dedication of each artiste on stage. However, I wished to emphasise the importance of the art from their perspective and so, I asked them to write what music meant to them. Initially, they were hesitant but the result is, in fact, wondrous!” he added.

Paknikar also remarked that the intention of the theme calendar was to share the happiness derived from capturing the timeless moments and revelling in the performance with all music lovers.

“If my photos remind you of even a few moments of the performances, it means the bhavamudras have succeeded,” he said.

The calendar will be unveiled in the presence of Pt Basant Kabra, Executive Chairman of Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal Shrinivas Joshi and few artistes featured in the calendar.

This is the 19th edition of the annual calender by photographer Sateesh Paknikar.
