Pan shop owner assaulted for not giving cigarettes for free

Pune: A pan shop owner was beaten black and blue by a group of three youths after he denied giving them cigarettes for free. The incident occurred on Saturday night at Gultekdi.

The three accused have been identified as Shivprasad Dhende (24), Govind Singh Tak (19), and Prashant Sonawane, all residents of Warje Malwadi. The trio assaulted Dadan Pujan who runs a pan shop at Gultekdi.

According to the Swargate police, the trio bought a few cigarettes from the shop of the complainant, but when he demanded money for the cigarettes bought by them, they assaulted him. They also ransacked his shop and took away Rs 500 from his counter. 

The police have arrested the three accused and have booked them under the relevant sections of IPC.
