PCB inaugurates recreation centre for women

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has set up a recreation centre for women and children to motivate self-help groups. It was inaugurated on Saturday at Taboot Street by elected Vice President, Priyanka Shrigiri.

Shrigiri said, “There was an open plot behind Sapur House at 721 Taboot Street of 1,000 sq ft, where we have built a hall in which women who are not employed and want to work, will be welcomed. They can do any kind of work which could generate income for their own benefit. There will be a open gym and a children’s playground.’’

“Within a week, we are going to conduct a workshop on making jute, cotton and paper bags. These bags will be distributed to shops in PCB’s jurisdiction. I have also invited members of MG Road Association for the workshop so that they can inform about the requirement of bags as plastic ban has been enforced.’’
