Pimpri: On the lines of footpath development on Jangli Maharaj Road in Pune, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is planning to develop footpaths.

The pilot project will be undertaken in the Smart City projects at Pimple Nilakh and Ravet. Under the projects, there will be parking arrangements, walkways, sitting arrangements and directional boards on priority basis. The beautification of the footpaths will be undertaken. This was announced by the Leader of the House in PCMC, Eknath Pawar.

Presentation of the proposed development of footpath structure was made in the Commissioner’s office on Monday. The agency, which prepared the design for footpath development in Pune, gave information to the office-bearers about the project. Deputy Mayor Shailaja More, Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Shiv Sena’s group leader Rahul Kalate, MNS’ Sachin Chikhale, Law Committee Chairperson Sharda Sonawane, Women and Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Sunita Tapkir and City Improvement Committee Chairperson Sagar Gawli were present on the occasion.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has designed the footpath of Jangli Maharaj Road and Aundh in a modern way.

Under this, parking arrangements, seating arrangements for citizens, painting of the road and sign boards have been arranged for. On the same pattern, the PCMC is planning to develop a 4-km stretch from Vishal Nagar to Baner bridge in Pimple Nilakh and 8-km stretch from Ravet to Ganganagar,  Akurdi on experimental basis.

There will be six-metre space for citizens to walk on the footpath as well as parking facilities. This work has been agreed to by all group leaders.
