Camil Parkhe

Pimpri: A flood-like situation has arisen on the banks of Pavana, Mula and Indrayani rivers in the city, following continuous rains for the past few days and discharge of waters from various dams. Pavana, Andhra,  Mulshi  and Kasarsai dams have been filled 100 per cent of their capacity, leading to the discharge of water from these four dams. This has led to increase in the water levels of Pavana, Mula and Indrayani rivers in the city.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued an alert to people residing on the banks of Pavana river, following continuous rains and discharge of water from Pavana dam. The municipal corporation has formed a  central flood control cell at its headquarters. The municipal administration has asked all departments concerned to be ready for disaster management measures.

Pimpri Chinchwad has received light rains since Monday night. The continuous wet spell for the past few days has also led to an increased number of potholes on various streets in the city.
