PIMPRI: Enraged by irregular water supply in Kasarwadi for the past four days, residents locked up officers of the Water Supply Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in Kasarwadi for over four hours on Saturday.

The water supply department’s office door was latched from the outside by the residents of ward number 30 at 10.30 am. The department’s City Engineer Makaranad Nikam and other officers were freed only at 3 pm after Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar assured the protesters that water will be supplied at 6 pm on Saturday. The other officers who faced the wrath of the local residents included Executive Engineer Ramdas Tambe, and junior engineers Kiran Andure and Shashikant Dawande.

All areas in PCMC jurisdiction are already being supplied water only on alternate days. Some areas in ward number 30 were facing problem of irregular water supply for the past four days.

Local Corporator Asha Shedge said, “The water crisis had caused hardship to people and the officers have not been responding to phone calls,” she said.
