Pimpri Chinchwad area to get a new police commissionerate soon, says minister Patil

Mumbai: As The Pimpri-Chinchwad city will get new police commissionerate very soon, as Ranjit Patil, minister of state (home) announced in the assembly on Friday.

There were a demand that these twin city must have separate police commissionerate as the population of the city increasing rapidly due to the urbanization and industrial zone. The crime rate is also on rise due to the increasing population in the towns. Gautam Chabukswar, MaheLandge, Sharad Sonavane and other member of the assembly raised the issue in the assembly through calling attention motion.

Chabukswar said that the population of the city is on rise and the police are facing extra stress due to increasing crime. “There is no separate police commissionerate and as a result of it, the police force is short and not able to stop the crime,” he said.

“There is a proposal that the to form a separate commissionerate for Pimpari- Chinchwad, but nothing has happened so far,” he informed.

Replying to the members Ranjit Patil said that the government is serious on the issue and very soon there will be a new police commissionerate.

Director general of Police, state has already submitted a proposal to the government wit h the recommendation from the police commissioner, Pune. In November last year the additional chief secretary (Home) has directed to the Director General of the Police to submit a fresh proposal for the separate police commissionerate.

‘According to the proposal the vacant post of in the Pimpaari Chinchwad Police will be filled and the new commissionerate will be formed,” said Patil.

The new commissionerate will cover jurisdictions of Hinjewadi, Sangvi, Pimpri Chinchwad, Nigdi and Bhosari. Additionally, Dehu Road, Talegaon Dabhade, Vadgaon Maval and
Kamshet police stations could be merged in the new commissionerate. These police stations, at present, come under the Pune rural police.

The jurisdiction of Pune police commissionerate currently covers 790 square kilometers which is divided between 39 police stations
