PUNE: India’s first massive aviation gallery in a three-storey building located at Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Shivajinagar Gaothan, is to open soon for visitors. It is a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) initiative.

Various forms of evolution of aviation starting from the Greek period, models of aircraft, and some of the Air Force documentaries, are kept in the gallery.

Pranav Chitte, Consultant of the Aviation project, said, “This was the first project in India. Many of the parents are not aware of the career options available in the aviation sector, and students visiting the gallery can take a virtual experience.”

The gallery will also showcase Indian scholars like Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, who had constructed an unmanned aeroplane. Those who want to pursue a career in aviation sector will get detailed information about the Indian Air Force.

Jyotsna Ekbote, corporator from Shivajinagar, said, “The project was initiated three years ago. But after doing some value addition, we created more space to set up a films and Air Force documentaries room.” She said, “Most of the work has been completed, but inauguration date is yet to be decided.”
