Pune, 26 July 2025: In an effort to address frequent traffic snarls near the Pune–Solapur Highway, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has proposed to lease 1.5 acres of its amenity space in Manjari to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) for parking. The proposal has been tabled before the PMC’s Standing Committee for approval.
The Manjari sub-market operates on a farm-to-consumer model and receives large quantities of produce daily from Haveli (East), Daund, Shirur, Baramati, and Purandar. However, the market lacks sufficient parking space. As a result, nearly 1,500 vehicles that arrive daily often spill over onto the adjacent highway, leading to congestion and disruption in traffic flow.
To tackle this issue, APMC had requested use of the municipal land for parking in October 2023. Following this, Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar directed the PMC to make the land available.
According to the plan, the APMC will be allotted a total of 1.5 acres from two plots, 16.65 R from Survey No. 75/1/2A/1 and 45.75 R from Survey No. 75/2, in the Manjari Budruk area. The land will be leased for 10 years, and in return, APMC will pay ₹9.81 lakh in the first year. The rent will increase by 5% every subsequent year.
The land can be used exclusively for parking vehicles of farmers, buyers, and other stakeholders associated with the market.
