Pune, 12 January 2025: City witnessed a shocking burglary late saturday night at the Aundh residence of former IAS officer Pooja Khedkar. The incident took place around 1.30 am at her bungalow in National Housing Society, where her parents and staff members were attacked and left unconscious while valuables were stolen.
According to police, Pooja Khedkar informed Chaturshringi Police that her parents, Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, along with household staff, had been rendered unconscious and robbed.
When police reached the spot, the security guard Jitendra Singh was found unconscious near the parking area. Her parents were found lying unconscious on their bed, while a driver and a cook were discovered in similar condition in different rooms.
Inside the bungalow, cupboards were found broken open and items were scattered across the floor, indicating a burglary. All five victims were rushed to hospital for treatment, and their condition was reported to be serious but stable.
Police believe the crime may have been committed by a Nepali domestic worker who was hired around 10–12 days ago. Preliminary investigation suggests that sedatives were mixed in food, causing everyone to lose consciousness, after which jewellery and mobile phones were stolen.
Senior Inspector Uttam Bhajanawale said the exact method and value of the stolen items are being verified. Since the victims are still under medical care, a formal police complaint has not yet been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
