Pune: The Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) will collaborate with the Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC Directorate), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to ‘bring best practices in various IT initiatives it will undertake including the Smart Elements project’. 

PSCDCL announced the partnership at a programme on Friday.

Under the ‘Smart Elements’ project, one of the flagship initiatives of the Smart City project, over 600 field elements comprising Internet of Things (IoT) devices and others have been installed and linked to the Smart City Command and Control Centre.

Dr Rajendra Jagtap, CEO of PSCDCL, said, “Smart Elements project is a significant part of Smart City Mission. This partnership with STQC is a quantum jump to take the smart city closer to its citizens.”

Manojit Bose, CKO, said, “This is a first of its kind initiative by the Pune Smart City. This partnership will help Pune Smart City benefit from the wide expertise within the MEIT, Government of India, in various complex technology-driven initiatives of the government.”

The PSCDCL officials also informed that Pune has been ranked second in the Smart Cities competition organised by the Government of India. 

Free Pune Wi-Fi, Smart Public Bicycle Sharing, Smart Placemaking, Smart Street Redesign, SCOC and Smart Elements, Lighthouse and Citizens Engagement are few of the successfully implemented projects of Pune Smart City.
