Pune Tightens Speed Limit to 30 Kmph on Navale Bridge-Katraj Tunnel Stretch

New rule takes effect from November 25 to curb frequent crashes between Katraj New Tunnel and Navale Bridge

Pune, 24 November 2025: The Pune Traffic Police has announced a strict speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour on the Katraj Bypass stretch between the Katraj New Tunnel and Navale Bridge. The decision comes after a rising number of fatal accidents due to over-speeding on this route.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said the bypass has repeatedly recorded major crashes, making stricter control necessary. He stated that the new limit aims to reduce accidents, ease traffic flow, and improve overall road safety.

The order has been issued under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and it also cancels all earlier speed-limit notifications for the stretch. The revised speed limit will be enforced across the bypass from November 25, 2025.

Jadhav urged motorists to stay alert, follow road signs, and keep an eye on their vehicle’s speed. He added that violations will face strict action and monitoring will be handled through CCTV cameras and speed-gun systems.

The Traffic Department believes the new measure will help bring down both fatal and non-fatal accidents on one of Pune’s most accident-prone corridors.
