Pune: 60-Day Deadline Set for Building Permissions in Merged Villages

This decision is expected to accelerate approvals that have been pending for several months. Earlier, building permission powers in 23 merged villages were with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). However, these powers were later transferred to the civic body following directions from the state government.

Despite a notification issued on February 11 transferring authority to the PMC, the process has remained stalled. The delay is mainly due to the pending handover of documents and records from PMRDA, preventing the civic administration from taking action on proposals, including those related to building permissions and Transferable Development Rights (TDR).

Authorities have been instructed to ensure that all development permission proposals are either approved or rejected within 60 days. If a decision is not taken within this period, the proposals must be transferred to the newly designated authority for further action.

The department has made it clear that the authority previously handling these areas must act promptly. Following these orders, PMRDA is now expected to expedite the transfer process and clear pending cases without further delay.
