Pune, 24 April 2026: The announcement of new flight routes from Pune Airport under the summer schedule has created uncertainty among passengers, as airlines are yet to confirm their services.
The airport administration had approved 15 additional slots starting May 1 and indicated new connectivity to Solapur, Mangaluru, and Bagdogra.
However, despite the announcement, airlines have largely not responded with confirmed schedules or ticket bookings. With only a few days remaining for the proposed start date, the absence of official updates has raised doubts about whether these flights will begin on time.
So far, only Air India Express has opened bookings for the Pune–Bagdogra route. There has been no similar movement from other airlines expected to operate flights to Solapur and Mangaluru, leaving passengers in confusion.
Passengers usually depend on early ticket bookings to plan their travel, especially during the peak summer season. The delay in announcements has disrupted travel plans, forcing many to wait without clarity or consider alternative options.
Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said, “The airport’s role is limited to providing slots, while the responsibility of operating flights lies entirely with the airlines.”
Aviation expert Dhairyashil Wandekar said, “The Bagdogra route is a positive step, but services to other announced destinations should also begin as planned to ensure better connectivity for passengers from Pune.”
