PUNE: The Pune airport authority will open another lounge in the Security Hold Area. This will be the second lounge post opening one near the check-in counter. This will be open for fliers who can enjoy a package, inclusive of food and beverages.

“The new lounge will be open soon. We are working on a war footing. The sitting capacity will be 110-150 passengers. The tender was awarded to south-India based Anjali Hotels,” Airport Director Ajay Kumar told Sakal Times.

“Earlier this year, the Pune airport authority had opened an executive lounge inside the check-in area on the ground floor. This new lounge will provide more sitting capacity for passengers. At present, the sitting capacity is 1,950 for passengers. It will increase to 2,120. We are planning to open the new lounge before August 15,” he said.

In July last year, the Pune airport authority had opened a multi-brand restaurant for passengers. The restaurant had a capacity of over 150. The airport had also opened a local food counter where passengers can enjoy a variety of food such as Bhel and Vada Pav.

“There were many fliers demanding a new lounge. The executive lounge is good but a budget-friendly one was needed. I am sure this will be good enough for fliers,” Pranay Kumar, a flier from Delhi, told Sakal Times.

Another passenger, Divya Rathod, said, “The Pune airport has focused on improving the facilities for passengers. Many of us are very happy with the opening of a new restaurant and food counters. The low-cost tea counter also fits our budget. As a frequent flier, I can say in the last three years, the airport has improved a lot and competing with other metro airports.”
