Pune: Airport Police have arrested a 22-year-old girl from Andhra Pradesh who had travelled to Dubai on work visa and passport availed on the basis of fake Aadhar card. The girl was arrested at the Lohegaon airport as soon as she deboarded the flight.

The arrested girl has been identified as Dammu Sitaratnam (22), a resident of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. A passport agent name Surya has also been booked on charges of forgery by the police in this case.

The girl was arrested on Thursday (December 3) night. She has been remanded in police custody up to December 8 by the court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class).

According to police, Dammu had obtained a fake Aadhar card in the name of Dasari Swapna. She had submitted this fake Aadhar card at the passport office. She obtained the passport on the basis of fake documents. She later got a work visa of Dubai.

Dammu travelled to New Delhi and from there she took a flight to Dubai on November 29. Meanwhile, passport officials and police received information about the fake documents and they alerted the airport officials. When Dammu arrived at Lohegaon airport on the night of December 3 she was taken into custody by Vimantal police.

Upon questioning, Dammu revealed that she had obtained the Aadhar card from one agent named Surya. Police suspect that a gang may be involved in preparing fake documents like Aadhar card and passports. While seeking police custody of the girl, public prosecutor Nitin Konghe argued before the court that police have to travel to Visakhapatnam to find out the main suspect in this case.
