Pune: Become a war-room volunteer at Pimpri-Chinchwad, appeals engineering student

Pune: Padmesh Kulkarni, a resident of Chinchwad and final year student of Urban Planning (Town Planning) branch of College of Engineering (COEP), Pune. Padmesh has been working in the war room set up by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation for the past five months. The war-room deals with COVID-19 outbreak handling of the city. There are currently 60 volunteers working here. Padmesh is one of them.

"I understand that we have a duty as a youth that we need to help our country in a crisis like Covid-19. We can overcome this situation and we appeal to everyone in the city to help each other," he appealed.

Padmesh said, "The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Janakalyan Samiti has been involved in a number of projects being run by the PCMC. I took part in this relief work. I have worked with Chinchwad Police station and Talera hospital for a few days. We have also distributed the ayurvedic extract (Kadha) in the entire city. We distributed masks in Pune city for some days. I got connected through the PCMC Smart Sarathi app and have been working at the PCMC war room since June."

"When Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 'Young India', I thought 'If it is not me, then who?' With this thought and a sense of duty towards our country, I started volunteering. We owe so much to our society and this is a time to work for it. Today one must help carefully in order to alleviate the crisis in the city and help restore normalcy," he said.

Padmesh Kulkarni further added, "Covid-19 outbreak led to lockdown in the city. Since then, all government agencies and employees have been working day and night to curb this epidemic. However, the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection has put a strain on the entire system. I wanted to help them and thus I volunteered to work in the war room."
