Pune, 11th July 2026: A 75-year-old doctor from Pune's Yerawada area was allegedly threatened with a weapon and asked to pay ₹50,000 in extortion by a local man. The incident took place on Wednesday night, prompting the registration of a criminal case at Lakshminagar Police Station.
Police have booked Amol Pille (45), a resident of Jaijawan Nagar in Yerawada, in connection with the incident.
According to police, the complainant, a senior doctor, lives in the Maharashtra Housing Board area of Yerawada and runs a private clinic in Jaijawan Nagar.
At around 9:30 pm on Wednesday, the accused allegedly entered the clinic, threatened the doctor with a weapon, demanded ₹50,000, and warned him of serious consequences if the money was not paid.
After leaving the clinic, the accused allegedly began abusing people on the road and brandished the weapon in public, creating panic among residents in the area.
Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Kadam and his team rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. However, the accused fled before the police arrived.
Based on the doctor's complaint, Lakshminagar Police have registered a case against the accused. A search operation has been launched, and further investigation is underway.
