Pune: Dagdusheth Ganpati temple to remain close till June 30

ST Staff

Pune: Devotees planning to step out of their home for having 'darshan' of Dagdusheth Ganpati on the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi on Monday (June 8) will have to do it online only, as the temple will remain close till June 30. The trust has appealed to devotees to stay at home and take darshan through online and social media platforms only.

Devotees can log on to the website developed by the trust - www.dagdushethganpati.com  or through its social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and You-Tube, the trustees said.

Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati is one of the popular religious shrines in the city with thousands of devotees flocking the temple every day to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha. The temple has beautiful floral decoration on every 'Sankashti Chaturthi' occasion, on which devotees throng the temple. Devotees standing in around two to three kilometres long queues are a common sight on Chaturthi.

Some devotees had a misunderstanding that Dagdusheth Ganpati temple will be open on Monday but the trustees have made it clear that devotees should not come to the temple.

Although the central government has permitted opening of religious places from June 8, the Maharashtra state government while issuing fresh guidelines on May 31 for the Lockdown 5.0, has not allowed temples to reopen for devotees. Hence the trust has decided to open the temple only after July 1 if the state government allows to do so.
