Pune: Gold ornaments stolen from Mandai Ganesh temple

The theft took place in the Ganesh temple located in Mandai area of Pune on Thursday

Pune: In a daring heist, gold ornaments worth Rs 10-12 lakh beautifying the Ganesh idol in the Sharada Ganajan Temple in Mandai area of Pune were allegedly stolen on Thursday.

The theft took place in the Ganesh temple located in Mandai area, which is considered as heart of the city. The robber can be seen in the CCTV camera footage. The theft came to light after the priest of the temple, who performs puja every day, visited the temple on Thursday morning. The police are investigating the case further. According to one of the officer-bearers, “The CCTV footage shows that the theft took place at about 1.18 am and the suspect can be seen entering the sanctum. The police are investigating the case further. We all hope the police will soon solve the case.”

The police along with the dog squad rushed to the spot. The complaint has been filed at Vishrambaug Police station. The police are probing the case further.

In 2015, ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh were allegedly stolen from the same temple.
