Pune: Software Exporters Association of Pune (SEAP) has revealed that city-based Information Technology (IT) companies have exported software worth Rs 18,000 crore during the lockdown period of three months. Considering the restrictions on H1B visas, international travel and the evolving COVID-19 situation, IT companies in the city have readied a plan for the next 18 months and are working to achieve their targets while working from home.

SEAP President Ashwin Megha said, "The Software Technology Park of India (STPI) website mentions that software worth Rs 18000 crore have been exported from the Pune region. Even during the lockdown, many IT companies have hired employees for various positions. Many employees who have joined recently have not even visited their offices due to travel restrictions. There are many opportunities based on innovative ideas of software development using technologies like artificial intelligence. These ideas will also give momentum to startups in future."

"International travel is not possible as of now and seems it will not be restored completely in the coming months too. It has impacted our on-site work and projects. We are finding ways to overcome these problems using advanced technologies," Megha said.

Megha who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Forgeahead Solutions said, "Currently 70 to 80 per cent of the employees are working from home. Many big companies have already asked their employees to work from home for the next three to six months. So, the human resources division of companies has to do a lot of rethink in these changing scenarios."

"Future technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication, Big Data, Automation, Robotics, Cloud Computing, Mobile Technology, Internet of Things, Blockchain will have a greater impact on our lives. These technologies will disrupt the education, health, entertainment, industries, banking and agricultural businesses. This is the reason why Reliance Jio has attracted large scale investment from international players. We will also need 5G technology in future," Megha stated.
