Pune Jagriti Group holds collection drive today

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The Pune Jagriti Group is organising a collection camp for grains and old clothes for the poor and needy people. This collection drive will be held on March 3 at the main gate of Fergusson College. This is the 11th year of the annual collection drive of Pune Jagriti Group and for the first time, a grain collection drive is also being held.

Pune Jagriti Group is a group of youth in Pune that collects old articles every year and offers them to the needy people. They offer help to orphanages and old age homes by providing them old clothes, toys, utensils, books, warm clothes, other useful items and essential things.

Pallavi Radheshyam Wagh, one of the volunteers, said, “This year, we are also organising collection camps of grains as well. The collected grains will be distributed in drought-hit villages.

“The response has been really good as every year people from different areas of Pune city come to donate and we expect the same response this year as well”, she added.

Collected items such as clothes, utensils, toys, etc, will be further donated to NGOs in nearby areas of Pune, whereas the collected grains will be distributed to drought-hit villages by the volunteers themselves.
