PUNE: Parts of Maharashtra including Pune is likely to receive rains from March 25, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Head of Weather at IMD Pune, Anupam Kashyapi said that there are various reasons which are bringing moisture to the State and resulting in rain.

"There is an upper air Cyclonic circulation over South Madhya Maharashtra and adjacent north interior Karnataka. There is also a north-south wind discontinuity from South Tamil Nadu to North Madhya Maharashtra across South interior Karnataka. So wind from different regions will be meeting over Madhya Maharashtra," said Kashyapi.

In addition to that, he added, there are two Western Disturbances approaching one after the other.

"One is over Pakistan and another one is over Iran right now. In a gap of two to three days, the second one will be approaching. Due to this there is an induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. So that will also bring some moisture. So western India including parts of Maharashtra will get rains," said Kashyapi.

Speaking about Pune, Kashyapi said that very light to light rain is likely. "There is a chance of hail in the city on Wednesday. But the conditions will be clearer as the day changes. But light rains are expected till the end of March," said Kashyapi.
