Pune, 1st September 2026: CNG prices have increased by ₹2 per kg, with the revised rate coming into effect from midnight on Monday, August 31. The price of CNG has now risen to ₹97.75 per kg.
The hike will affect motorists in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjawadi. Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) said the increase was necessary due to a rise in the purchase cost of natural gas.
CNG is widely used in Pune, particularly by auto-rickshaws, taxis and other commercial vehicles because it is generally cheaper than petrol and diesel. The latest hike will therefore increase the daily operating costs of drivers and regular CNG vehicle users.
While CNG prices have increased, petrol and diesel rates have remained unchanged.
Petrol: ₹112.04 per litre
Diesel: ₹98.68 per litre
CNG: ₹97.75 per kg
The latest CNG increase is expected to add to transportation costs for drivers who depend on the fuel for their daily operations.
