Pune, 13 March 2026: The supply of piped natural gas (PNG) used for cooking in households and compressed natural gas (CNG) supplied at fuel stations will continue without disruption in Pune and surrounding areas, according to Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL).
The assurance comes amid concerns over possible disruptions in liquefied natural gas (LNG) transportation due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
To ensure that citizens do not face difficulties in accessing gas for daily needs, the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed that natural gas meant for domestic consumption be allocated at 100 percent.
These directions have been implemented through the Natural Gas (Supply Regulation) Order, 2026, which came into effect immediately following a government notification issued on March 9.
MNGL stated that the supply of PNG to households and CNG for transportation remains its top priority. The company operates an extensive pipeline network across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Hinjawadi and Talegaon, ensuring steady distribution of gas to consumers.
At present, MNGL supplies gas to more than eight lakh household connections and over 5.5 lakh CNG vehicles across the region through more than 125 CNG stations.
“Following the central government’s directive to allocate 100 percent natural gas for domestic use, the supply of PNG for household cooking will continue without interruption. There is no shortage or disruption expected in the natural gas supply for domestic consumers,” said Sujit Ruikar, Vice President (Marketing), MNGL.
