Monsoon 2026: Pune Likely to Witness Thunderstorms and Light Rain This Week

IMD forecasts partly cloudy skies, lightning and showers; temperatures expected to ease with the arrival of the monsoon

Pune, 8th June 2026: According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune is likely to experience light rain, thunderstorms and lightning during the week.

The city is expected to see mainly clear skies during the morning, with cloud cover increasing in the afternoon or evening, creating favourable conditions for rain.

The IMD said weather conditions are becoming favourable for the southwest monsoon to reach Pune in the coming days. As the monsoon approaches, the city may witness increased rainfall activity along with thunderstorms and lightning.

Pune continues to experience above-normal temperatures. The maximum temperature is hovering around 37°C, about 2°C above normal, and is expected to remain at similar levels through the week. Minimum temperatures are also likely to stay 2°C to 3°C above normal at around 26°C.

According to weather officials, both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to gradually fall once the monsoon arrives in Pune, bringing relief from the prevailing heat.
